I recruit persons for my organisation for various departments and during interviews I come across lots of people mainly youngsters who have desires, aims and several hurdles to cross and finally want to glitter in their fields with many success tags on their chest. All of them wants to become big overnight and are full of attitude. I have never seen any down to earth youth who could be promising and could honestly answer to the questions asked to them.

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: "Californian FB";">

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: "Californian FB";">Few days back I was busy with my routine work and got a flash on my cell, the number which was flashing was unknown to me, anyway I took the call and their was a guy on the other side with a hopeful voice. During my conversation with him I came to know that he is looking for a change from his present company and wants to work with us because of our name and fame in the market. I had a opening and was looking for a person specially experienced one so I readily agreed to call him for the interview in my office on the following Saturday.

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: "Californian FB";">

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: "Californian FB";">On the decided day, that chap namely “Arun” appeared for the interview and I took him to the meeting room for the interview, after formal exchanges I asked him about his present company and work profile and he started it in a very unprofessional manner and his communication skills were proving that he is not at all comfortable with any of the languages which are widely spoken and accepted in India. Then and there I decided to drop him for the position I was interviewing him and gave a quick decision to him because continuing further that interview was a mere wastage of time knowingly. When I gave him a “NO”, he started pleading for the job which really irritated me; he started begging for the job despite his deficiencies and said that he is very hardworking. A special thing which I left about him is that in a span of two year he has changed 5 jobs as an Asst. manager and that only proved that he is not at all capable of facing challenges and arriving new horizons of professionalism.

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: "Californian FB";">

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: "Californian FB";">Now I must share his qualifications also, he showed me a file which was overflowing with the certificates and degrees which he had acquired from several prestigious institutes and Universities in his 26 years of student life, all were satisfying but the moment he started speaking it was feeling like slapping him for not doing his homework on time. After he left I came back to my seat and again became busy in my work, but somewhere in my mind I was thinking about this guy only that why he have such a huge gap in his communication skills and despite of having several degrees why he is incompetent in the market. Therefore the Custom Department perform a very major role in a Foreign Trade Transaction. Customs Department grants license to a a person to act as a "Custom House Agent" to guide the Importers & Exporters about the Various regulations under Customs Act and other Allied Acts mentioned above. Therefore it can be said that a Licensed Custom House Agent also perform a major role in a Foreign Trade Transaction. In fact, the Custom House Agent acts as a bridge between Customs Department & Importers/Exporters.

It may be said that, while a reputed Consultant in Foreign Trade Acts as a good guide and advisor for an Importer /Exporter, a reputed and knowledgeable Customs House Agent or Customs Clearing Agent acts as the representative of Importer / Exporter before the Customs Department, and gets the goods cleared through the procedures of Indian Customs after ensuring that all the legal compliance under Custom Act & other Allied Acts have been adhered to by an Importer/Exporter.

From the above, it can be inferred that a company, who is having a combination of both i.e. who is a reputed Consultant in Foreign Trade as well as a reputed Custom Clearance Agent, becomes essential, inevitable and ideal for any Importer / Exporter who needs a smooth sailing in the entire process. Needless to mention that any mistakes done in documentation and declaration before Customs can be very expensive because it may lead to confiscation of goods and customs may levy fine and personal penalty for releasing such goods in lieu of confiscation. We are one such company which provides both the services mentioned above.

We are one of the leading Consultants in Foreign Trade and are also licensed Customs House Agents (Custom Clearing Agents). We provide consultation in Foreign Trade Policy, Customs, Central Excise, Insurance, Logistics, 100% Export Oriented Units Schemes, Special Economic Zones Schemes, and Software Technology Parks of India Schemes. As a good Consultant, we get involved with your company from the day of planning by checking all documents like Proforma Invoice (Quotation) of Foreign Supplier, Purchase Order or Import Contract, Payment Terms, INCO Terms, Commercial Invoice, Packing Lists, Catalogues, Shipment Documents like Air Way Bill, Bill of Lading etc to ensure that they meet the Legal, Commercial, Customs & Licensing requirements. Subsequently, as a good Custom House Agent (Custom Clearing Agent), based upon all the above mentioned documents kept ready before landing /arrival of the goods, we clear the goods from Customs within the demurrage free period.

The CEO of this company, Mr. S.D. Noticing restlessness was spreading, the British Government appointed a commission under the leadership of Sir John Simon in 1928, to report on political happenings. There was no single Indian member in this commission, and all the political parties decided to boycott the commission when it planned to visit major cities of India.

In Lahore, Lala Lajpatrai (picture) and Pandit Madan Mohan Malavia decided to protest to the commission in open about their displeasure. It was a silent protest march, yet the police chief Scott had banned meetings or processions. Thousands joined, without giving room for any untoward incident. Even then, Scott beat Lala Lajpatrai severely with a lathi (bamboo stick) on the head several times. Finally the leader succumbed to the injuries.

Bhagat Singh who was an eye witness to the morbid scene vowed to take revenge and with the help of Azad, Rajguru and Sukhadev plotted to kill Scott. Under the Defense of India Act, it gave more power to the police to arrest persons to stop processions with suspicious movements and actions. The act brought in the council was defeated by one vote. Even then it was to be passed in the form of an ordinance in the "interest of the public." No doubt the British were keen to arrest all leaders who opposed its arbitrary actions, and Bhagat Singh who was in hiding all this while, volunteered to throw a bomb in the central assembly where the meeting to pass the ordinance was being held. It was a carefully laid out plot, not to cause death or injury but to draw the attention of the government, that the modes of its suppression could no more be tolerated. It was agreed that Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt would court arrest after throwing the bomb.

It was a forgone conclusion in 1929 April 8th at Delhi Central Assembly. Singh and Dutt threw handouts, and bombed in the corridor not to cause injury and courted arrest after shouting slogans Inquilab Zindabad (Long Live, Revolution!)

Meanwhile the killers of Sanders were identified by the treachery of Bhagat Singh's friends who became "Approvers." Bhagat Singh thought the court would be a proper venue to get publicity for the cause of freedom, and did not want to disown the crime. But he gave a fiery statement giving reasons for killing which was symbolic of freedom struggle. He wanted to be shot like a soldier, and not die at the gallows. But, his plea was rejected, and he was hanged on the 23rd of March 1931. He was 24.

Bhagat Singh became a legendary hero for the masses. Innumerable songs were composed about him, and the youth throughout the country made him their ideal. Here, Gandhi pays tribute to the patriotism of the young martyr while disagreeing with his revolutionary methods. Excerpted from Gandhi's article in Young India.

Bhagat Singh and his two associates have been hanged. The Congress made many attempts to save their lives and the Government entertained many hopes of it, but all has been in a vain.

Bhagat Singh did not wish to live. He refused to apologize, or even file an appeal. Bhagat Singh was not a devotee of non-violence, but he did not subscribe to the religion of violence. He took to violence due to helplessness and to defend his homeland. In his last letter, Bhagat Singh wrote --" I have been arrested while waging a war. For me there can be no gallows. Put me into the mouth of a cannon and blow me off." These heroes had conquered the fear of death. Let us bow to them a thousand times for their heroism.

But we should not imitate their act. In our land of millions of destitute and crippled people, if we take to the practice of seeking justice through murder, there will be a terrifying situation. Our poor people will become victims of our atrocities. By making a dharma of violence, we shall be reaping the fruit of our own actions.

Hence, though we praise the courage of these brave men, we should never countenance their activities. Our dharma is to swallow our anger, abide by the discipline of non-violence and carry out our duty.

March 29, 1931
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-846376806271135945.post-79533587818372629792008-01-17T16:53:00.000+05:302008-12-10T08:31:38.592+05:30Happy Republic DayI wish you all a very Happy Republic Day. It does away with the cables and enables voice and data transfer between the devices through wireless networks called piconets.
The primary segments identified for Bluetooth application are: Cellular & PCS Mobile Phones, Digital Cordless Phones, Data Access Points, PC Cards and Adapters, Notebook & Desktop PCs, Handheld PCs & Palm Companions / PDA s, Digital Still Cameras, Output Equipment, Automotive and Industrial & Medical applications.

The technology behind it:

Bluetooth is a Radio Frequency (RF) specification for short-range, point-to-multi-point voice and data transfer. An advantage of Bluetooth is it's similarity to many other specifications already deployed and it's borrowing of many a feature from these specifications. The 2.4GHz band is used by IEEE 802.11 to enable wireless LAN connectivity. Bluetooth borrows specifications to enable file sharing and data transfers between devices from IrDA (a wireless specification that uses Infrared light to connect devices). Home RF SWAP, a specification aimed at small network of devices for the home environment, is another source for Bluetooth.
It is omni-directional and has a present nominal link range of 10cm to 10m, which can be extended to 100m, with increased transmitting power. Bluetooth operates in the 2.4GHz Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) Band and uses a Frequency Hop (FH) spread spectrum technology in which packets are transmitted in defined time slots on defined frequencies. A full duplex information interchange rate of up to 1Mbps may be achieved in which a Time-Division Duplex (TDD) scheme is used.

A Bluetooth System:

* A Radio Unit - consisting of a radio transceiver, which provides the radio, link between the Bluetooth devices.
* A Baseband Unit - a hardware consisting of flash memory and a CPU. He was named Khurram, which means "joyous," by his doting grandfather Akbar, who said the birth made the world glad. "He was born during the height of Akbar's power," says art historian Shobita Punja, "when most of India came under Mughal rule. He was very well educated, had brilliant teachers, and was quite an aesthete. He really was a very cultured human being."

According to one of the youth's companions at court, Prince Khurram was a handsome youth, "possessed of a sharp wit, a wonderful memory, a love for details and the capacity to master them." Legend has it that the young prince charmed Arjumand Banu Begum (later named Mumtaz Mahal) at the Royal Meena Bazaar during the Moslem New Year festival, where merchants brought fine cloth, precious jewels and other goods for the harem and nobles of the court.
Though court poets celebrated the young girl's beauty, no contemporary likenesses of her are known to exist. According to author and art historian Milo Beach, "There are paintings that are labeled 'Mumtaz Mahal,' but they are simply generalized depictions of a Mughal beauty. There's virtually no contemporary account of her, because none of the historians would have had contact with her." Under Mohammed's law of "purdah," the law of the veil, women were obliged to hide their faces from public view. The only women depicted in paintings were court dancers and entertainers; it was taboo to paint royal women.

"Royal women were kept in seclusion, but that has nothing to do with the power they held," adds Beach. "They clearly were extremely powerful. Shah Jahan's father, Jahangir, married a woman named Nur Jahan who was really the person who ran the empire for the second half of Jahangir's reign, when he became addicted to opium and alcohol. He barely functioned as an emperor, and she ran the country."

"We know very little about Mumtaz Mahal except that she was the daughter of Asaf Khan, who was the Prime Minister for Shah Jahan and son of the Prime Minister for Jahangir whose sister, Nur Jahan, married Jahangir. You cannot be more closely related to the Imperial family than that. Many of Asaf Khan's cousins and other relatives were also placed in positions of enormous power in the Mughal court. So Mumtaz Mahal probably had a very important and influential role in her husband's life."

Before marriage to Mumtaz Mahal, the Emperor Jahangir had arranged two other marriages for his son for political purposes. But although Shah Jahan had three regular wives, Mumtaz Mahal became his favorite and bore his only children. The Prince would not part with her even on his numerous military campaigns. In his suffering, she sustained him; in his glory, she inspired him to acts of charity and benevolence. Tourists from all over the world visit Agra not only to see the ruins of the red sandstone fortress built by the Mughal emperors but to make a pilgrimage to Taj Mahal, India's most famous architectural wonder. In a land where magnificent temples and edifices abound to remind visitors about the rich civilization of a country that is slowly but surely lifting itself into an industrialized society. The postcard picture of Taj Mahal falls short to convey the legend, the poetry and the romance that shroud what Rabindranath Tagore calls "a teardrop on the cheek of time". Taj Mahal means "Crown Palace" and is in fact the most well preserved and architecturally beautiful tomb in the world. It is best described by an English poet, Sir Edwin Arnold, as "Not a piece of architecture, as other buildings are, but a proud passion of an emperor’s love wrought in living stones." It is a celebration of woman's love, exquisitely portrayed in marble. And that's the way to appreciate it!

Taj Mahal stands on the bank of River Yamuna, which otherwise serves as a wide moat defending the Great Red Fort of Agra, the centre of the Mughal empire until they moved their capital to Delhi in 1637. It was built by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in 1631 in the memory of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, a Muslim Persian princess. She died while accompanying her husband in Behrampur in a campaign to crush a rebellion, after giving birth to their 14th child. Her death so crushed the emperor that all his hair and beard were said to have grown snow white in a few months.
When Mumtaz Mahal was still alive, she extracted four promises from the emperor: first, that he build the Taj; second, that he should marry again; third, that he be kind to their children; and fourth, that he visit the tomb on her death anniversary. He kept the first and second promises. Construction began in 1631 and was completed in 22 years. Twenty thousand people were deployed to work on it. It was designed by the Iranian architect Istad Usa and it is best appreciated when the architecture and its adornments are linked to the passion that inspired it. It is a "symbol of eternal love"

Having buried her down at Behrampur, it was time for the emperor to keep his promise and build a tomb there itself. But by and by, it was felt that it was virtually impossible to transfer all the marble there, as it would cost an entire fortune and an entire lifetime. So, when Agra was chosen as the only alternative, astonishingly her grave was uprooted and brought to Agra, only to be finally transferred to the monument, completed twenty two years later. The Taj rises on a high red sandstone base topped by a huge white marble terrace on which rests the famous dome flanked by four tapering minarets. Within the dome lies the jewel inlaid cenotaph of the queen. So exquisite is the workmanship that the Taj has been described as “designed by giants and finished by jewelers". The only asymmetrical object in the Taj is the casket of the emperor which was built beside the queens, as an afterthought. The emperor was deposed by his son and imprisoned in the Great Red Fort for eight years but was later buried in the Taj. During his imprisonment he was barred from visiting Taj. What he could have was just a little view of Taj in a reflection of a diamond.

As a tribute to a beautiful woman and as a monument for enduring love, the Taj reveals its subtleties when one visits it without being in a hurry. The rectangular base of Taj is in itself symbolic of the different sides from which to view a beautiful woman. The main gate is like a veil to a woman's face which should be lifted delicately, gently and without haste on the wedding night. In Indian tradition the veil is lifted gently to reveal the beauty of the bride. As one stands inside the main gate of Taj, his eyes are directed to an arch which frames the Taj. The dome is made of white marble, but the tomb is set against an awesome backdrop of the river and it is this background that works its magic of colors through their reflection and transforms the view of the Taj. The colors change at different hours of the day and during different seasons. Like a jewel, the Taj sparkles in moonlight when the semi-precious stones inlaid into the white marble on the main mausoleum catch the glow of the moon. The Taj is pinkish in the morning, milky white in the evening and golden when the moon shines. These changes, they say, depict the different moods of woman. Different people have different views of the Taj but it would be enough to say that the Taj has a life of its own that leaps out of marble, provided you understand that it is a monument of love. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/ sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

Creating Shutdown Icon or One Click Shutdown :

Navigate to your desktop. The vast majority of people spend far too much time looking down at notes, PowerPoint slides or at the table in front of them. Not surprisingly, most speakers can change this behavior instantly simply by watching video of themselves. Powerful business leaders look at their listeners directly in the eye when delivering their message.

Killer #2- Slouching
what it says about you: You are unauthoritative; you lack confidence.
When standing stationary, place feet at shoulder width and lean slightly forward. Pull your shoulders slightly forward as well -- you'll appear more masculine. Head and spine should be straight. Don't use a tabletop or podium as an excuse to lean on it.

Killer #3- Fidgeting, rocking or swaying
what it says about you: You are nervous, unsure or unprepared.

Killer #4- Standing in place
what it says about you: You are rigid, nervous, boring -- not engaging or dynamic.
Walk. Move. Most men who come to me for presentation coaching think they need to stand ridged in one place. What they don't realize is that movement is not only acceptable, it's welcome. Some of the greatest business speakers walk into the audience, and are constantly moving... but with purpose!

Killer #5- Keeping hands in pocket
what it says about you: You are uninterested, uncommitted or nervous.
The solution here is too simple: Take your hands out of your pocket. I've seen great business leaders who never once put both hands in their pockets during a presentation. One hand is acceptable -- as long as the free hand is gesturing.

Killer #6- Using phony gestures
what it says about you: You are over coached, unnatural or artificial?
Use gestures; just don't overdo it. Researchers have shown that gestures reflect complex thought. Gestures leave listeners with the perception of confidence, competence and control. But the minute you try to copy a hand gesture, you risk looking contrived -- like a bad politician.

Killer #7- Jingling coins, tapping toes & other annoying movements
what it says about you: You are nervous, unpolished or insufficiently concerned with details.
What to do instead: Use a video camera to tape yourself. Play it back with a critical eye. Do you find annoying gestures that you weren't aware of? I once watched an author who had written a book on leadership discuss his project. He couldn't help but jingle all the coins in his pocket throughout the entire talk. He didn't sell very many books that day, and he certainly didn't score points on the leadership scale.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">______________________________________________________________________________<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="background: red none repeat scroll 0% 50%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Bell MT","serif"; color: white; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;">IF LIFE IS A BITCH, A REAL MAN WOULD SLAP IT AND MOVE ON.
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Bell MT","serif";">______________________________________________________________________________<span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Bell MT","serif";">
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-846376806271135945.post-73662855087880332852007-12-01T16:59:00.000+05:302007-12-01T17:02:53.269+05:30Mast Jokes
Funny Jokes-that will make you laugh loud

Two couples were playing cards. Where as a female can take up to 15 minutes to climax.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">If you know for a fact that you can keep going for that long by pure intercourse alone (and lets face it, if you doing that, having sex, not making love then you are going to have to stimulate her body with foreplay instead.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Now before you panic and freak out, all of this can be done with your tongue and hands. I guarantee you will become a better lover in the bedroom AND you really will give her orgasm after orgasm.

<span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The top 5 female erogenous zones

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The neck<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Apart from being sexy and attractive, the female neck is perhaps one of the most sensitive areas of her body. Softly kissing this area from her shoulder to below her ear (while at the same time massaging it with your tongue will send tingles and pulses up and down her spine. Some girls get the tickles when you do it but others simply adore it. While you’re there you can whisper sweet nothings in her ear. Close facial contact is what she likes so this is a good way to do it if you’re fed up with kissing on the lips. Also massaging her ear lobes with your fingers from time to time can be very soothing.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The nipples<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">On a par with the neck for sensitivity, the female nipples become hard and sit up right when stimulated with your tongue. If she hasn’t grabbed your head by this stage and held it into her bosom, something is badly wrong.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The belly button<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Working your way down her body, the belly button is another area you should stimulate before full intercourse. Kissing this area with your lips and tongue will cause vibrations that will vibrate through her reproductive area and begin to stimulate her G spot.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The G Spot<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Ah the G spot. This Holy Grail legend of the female anatomy can be tricky to find. So if the chance arises, ask her if she has already found her G spot and let her point you in the right direction.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">As a general guide, most female G spots can be found on the roof of the vagina (that is the side closest to her stomach. It’s about the size and shape of a 2 pence coin and can be found about 4 inches in.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Extreme caution should be taken when stimulating this area with your tongue or fingers as a female can quite literally lose control of her limbs. Don’t be surprised if you get kneed in the face or get elbowed as she moans in ecstasy. It should also be noted that not all females have a G spot, so don’t be alarmed if you both can’t find it. As you have seen there are plenty of other areas of the female body that can be stimulated in the art of love making in order to help her climax.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Doing a combination of all these things will leave her begging for more and you will be a better lover for it. Experimentation is the key to find out what works and what doesn’t as everyone is not the same.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">As you can see, a true female orgasm involves the stimulation of her whole body and not just simple penetration. Taking the time to show care and attention to her needs will put you so far above any other lovers, she may have had that you may find it tricky escaping from the bed. I know I have. I hope this article helps your love life get back on track and that you become better and more confident at making love and not just having sex. Above all else, if you want to become a better lover, ask your partners what they like and what they want you to do to them. Not only will you help them get their rocks off quicker, you’ll also show that you are thinking about their needs and they in turn will think about yours. This will create a much better experience than if both parties are concentrating on what each can get out of the experience in a very selfish way.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-846376806271135945.post-6324058522814847132007-11-30T14:11:00.000+05:302007-11-30T14:12:39.585+05:30Travel Destination- Mussorie
Mussoorie

---Places to Visit---

Mussoorie is a hill station which has pleasant climate around the year. Right now, I am going to finish my class 12 board exams. Those were the days of class 8, when I came in contact with the smartest, quietest and loveliest girl-Ritu. She was everyone's heart-throb. We both had got admission on the same day so we became friends easily. For more than six months we remained good friends, but after that I started feeling that I loved her, so I proposed to her in front of the whole class and, to my great surprise, she accepted my proposal by saying, "I love you, too". From that day on we came closer to each other, I found her more beautiful than ever before. She was a loving and caring soul. We were very frank with each other.

When we reached class 9, on the very first day of the session, she came to my house. No one else was at home. We were all alone and we lost control. First we smooched and then went all the way. After all this, she told me that she is suffering from brain tumor and it was in the last stage. After that I really started caring for her. I never said anything which could hurt her. I always encouraged her to live, but she had a negative attitude. Her morale was down and she had lost all interest in life. She was always pondering about her death. But she always said that she loved me and to her I was the only one who cared about her-at school and at home. She always gave me more importance than anyone else. No one except me knew that she was ill, and that was because she had made me promise not to tell anyone. I loved her a lot. She was my first love. Because of her I was regular at school, because of her I never bunked classes. One day, I went to school even though I had fever. In class when she touched me she said, "You have fever! Why have you come?" When I said, "Just for you, Ritu", she started to cry.

One day at school somebody told Ritu a rumor about me. At first she didn't react, but later came to me and asked, "How many girlfriends do you have?" I got angry with her and, forgetting all about her illness, I said, "Four more." She left the classroom and the next day she didn't come to school. I had forgotten all about the previous day, so it didn't really strike me that it could be the reason for her not coming; I thought maybe she was sick again. So, after school I went to her house, but she refused to meet me.

After a week, on Sunday at 8:00 pm, Ritu's mom called me. She said, "Ritu is no more. She has given me a letter for you, so please come and take it." I was so shocked that I didn't take my annual exams. After a couple of days, I went to her house to get the letter. It read like this: "Dear Roshan, You were my first and last love. I loved you from the core of my heart, but you didn't care for my love. On that day Sarbani told me that you have lots of girlfriends. I did not believe it, but when I asked you, you said you had four more. This proved how dishonest you were. Well, now you can do what you feel like." -Ritu.

After reading all this, I cried for hours. Not a day has passed when I have not cried. Since that day, every day of my life is a cheerless day. Ritu, I want to tell you that I had said all that because I wanted to see you get jealous but you took it the other way. Only God knows how much I love you. Ritu, you were the only girl whom I cared for, whom I loved from the very core of my heart. From that day, I hold myself responsible for her death. If I had not said what I said to her, she would still be alive.

Roshan Pratihast, New Delhi

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-846376806271135945.post-74075170848590218282007-11-28T10:41:00.000+05:302007-11-28T10:55:16.752+05:30Understanding Diabetes
<span style="font-size: 20pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Types of Diabetes

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">There are different types of diabetes, and the causes for the elevations in blood sugar differ depending on the type of diabetes you have. In this book I focus on the two major types of diabetes. The first form of diabetes that I'll discuss is called type 1 diabetes mellitus (or simply type 1 DM), sometimes referred to as insulin-dependent diabetes (IDDM), because people with this type of diabetes are reliant on an external source of insulin, which is injected. Type 1 DM is a condition in which the blood sugar levels are elevated because there is no production of insulin by the pancreas. In other words, these people do not produce the keys to the doors of the cell, and thus the glucose in the bloodstream cannot get into the cell. These people have symptoms early in their lives, typically occurring in childhood or when they are young adults. Some people with type 1 diabetes may have inherited susceptibility this condition. We think that in these people there is a reaction in the body that destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, making it necessary for these people to take insulin in order to survive.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Two types of diabetes<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">: (a) With type 1 diabetes, insulin is not present, so the glucose cannot get into the cell. (b) With type 2 diabetes, insulin is present, but the cell is less sensitive to it, so the glucose has a hard time getting into the cell.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The second type of diabetes is called type 2 diabetes mellitus (type 2 DM), sometimes referred to as non-insulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM), because people with this type of diabetes typically do not need to take insulin (although some with type 2 diabetes will require insulin to control their glucose). This form of diabetes accounts for around 95 percent of people who have diabetes, and this form is the primary focus of this book. As in all cases of diabetes, those with type 2 have elevated blood glucose levels. However, unlike those with type 1, these people can produce insulin. Some even may produce more insulin than normal. The problem in this case has not much to do with the "key,"-insulin, but rather with the door's keyhole that allows it to open. If you have type 2 diabetes you have a high glucose level and either a low, normal, or high insulin level at the same time. The main problem in this case is that your cells are significantly less sensitive - or more resistant to - insulin and, in an attempt to keep the level of glucose inside the cells normal, the body creates a high concentration of glucose outside of the cells (see figure 1.2b). A type of diabetes similar to type 2 diabetes occurs during pregnancy, and I briefly discuss this later in this chapter. However, the information in this book is not intended as a comprehensive resource for those who are pregnant but only to give you a basic understanding of this condition.

<span style="font-size: 20pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 20pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Diagnosing Diabetes

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Those with type 2 diabetes are usually diagnosed in their 30s. However, we are seeing more and more patients diagnosed in their teenage years. There may be a genetic predisposition, similar to that of type 1 diabetes, that may be linked to the development of type 2 diabetes. However, unlike those with type 1 diabetes, many people with type 2 diabetes (60 percent) are obese. This is likely due to a combination of genetic factors and may be a result of the body's need to take in more calories to keep blood sugar levels high enough for cells to function.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The common symptoms of type 1 and type 2 diabetes are similar and are directly related to the body's response to high blood sugar levels. The classic symptoms include excessive urination and thirst. When glucose is present in high levels in the blood, the kidneys produce higher volumes of urine. Thus, a person with untreated diabetes will have to empty the full bladder often. This can cause the body to become dehydrated, triggering the thirst response, resulting in excessive drinking. The volume of fluid that is lost in the urine is often great. And if this fluid is not replaced, the person can experience symptoms of dehydration as well, such as dizziness, headache, and rapid heart rate. Other symptoms include blurred vision, infections, and weight loss despite an increase in appetite and food consumption.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">A major difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes is that those with type 1 diabetes are absolutely dependent on an external source of insulin to live. These people may be presented with life-threatening symptoms. For example, if the person with type 1 diabetes does not have insulin, he will start to metabolize other energy sources in the body (such as fat) that produce harmful substances that can lead to death. This condition is called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). It is rare for someone with type 2 diabetes to develop DKA unless he is under very stressful conditions, such as a major illness.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The difference in body weight between those with type 1 and type 2 diabetes is commonly related to the effects insulin has on the body. Insulin supports growth of body tissues, including fat. People with type 1 diabetes, as discussed earlier, do not produce their own insulin, so they need to balance what they eat with the amount of insulin they take in order to keep their blood glucose levels normal. People with type 2 diabetes typically produce enough insulin and sometimes even two or three times the normal amount of insulin. In a person with untreated type 2 diabetes, the body senses that there is a low level of glucose inside the cells (despite having high levels in the blood), and the insulin level is increased and the hunger center in the brain is activated, driving the person to eat more. This combination of events often causes the person with type 2 diabetes to overeat, which leads to obesity.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Does everyone with diabetes have symptoms? Often there are symptoms. But just as often the diagnosis is made without the presence of symptoms, during routine health examinations that include blood sugar screenings. Elevated blood sugar prompts the health care provider to seek a cause of this irregularity. The physician may run more tests if an initial blood test is abnormal; she may review family history as well. We typically screen patients for diabetes starting at age 45. However, if a patient is in a high-risk group (African American, Asian, Latino, Native American) or has risk factors for diabetes (such as obesity, high blood pressure, high blood lipid levels, or a first-degree relative with diabetes), we screen the patient for diabetes earlier than age 45.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Physicians prefer to have blood glucose tested in the morning, before the patient has eaten. This is called a fasting glucose test. We consider a normal fasting glucose test to be less than 110 mg/dl (milligrams per deciliter). If a person's fasting glucose level is between 110 and 126 mg/dl, then we consider this person to have prediabetes, or what is often referred to as glucose intolerance. Fasting glucose levels above 126 mg/dl on two separate occasions are indicative of diabetes mellitus. If you have a test after you have already eaten (or what is described as a nonfasting glucose test), and it shows your blood glucose level to be above 200 mg/dl, then this is enough to make the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus (see Table 1.1).

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">There are other tests that may be done as well, such as a glucose tolerance test. The glucose tolerance test involves doing a fasting glucose test and then having the patient drink 75 milligrams of glucose and remeasuring the blood glucose levels after two hours. The test is normal if the fasting glucose is less than 110 mg/dl and the two-hour glucose level is less than 140 mg/dl. If the two-hour results show a level between 140 and 200 mg/dl, then this is indicative of glucose intolerance; up to 5 percent of patients with this level of blood glucose will develop diabetes. A two-hour glucose level greater than 200 mg/dl is indicative of diabetes.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Your doctor may also choose to do another test commonly referred to as the hemoglobin A(HbA). This is a test designed to give your health care provider a rough estimate of how high your blood glucose levels have been over the last three months. This can help your physician in deciding how often to check your glucose as well as in formulating your treatment plan. For instance, if your initial test confirms the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes with two fasting glucose levels of 130 mg/dl, that is just above the diagnostic threshold of 126 mg/dl. But if your HbA1C is significantly elevated, your doctor may decide to monitor you more closely and treat your condition more aggressively. This may include starting a medication regimen earlier in addition to making changes in your diet and exercise habits. It is important to note that if you are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, then you will start taking medication (insulin) immediately.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Table 1.1 Glucose Levels and What They Mean<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Diagnosis

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Glucose level

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Normal fasting glucose

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";"><110>

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Prediabetes

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">110-126 mg/dl

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Diabetes (2 separate measurements)

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">>126 mg/dl

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Diabetes (nonfasting)

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">>200 mg/dl

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Other tests can differentiate between type 1 and type 2 diabetes if it becomes difficult to do through questioning the patient about symptoms. It should be clear that those with diabetes are characterized as having abnormally high blood glucose levels and that there are different forms of diabetes. The main difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes is in the treatment: People with type 1 diabetes require treatment with an external source of insulin, and those with type 2 diabetes are typically treated initially with a modification of their diet and exercise habits because exercise can make the body more sensitive to insulin (Devlin 1992). However, some people with type 2 may require medication to help them produce more insulin or to make them more sensitive to it (see table 1.2). Some with type 2 may even require injections of insulin to control their glucose levels. Using exercise as a treatment for type 2 diabetes is the focus of this book. I discuss important issues concerning the use of exercise in the treatment of type 1 diabetes as well.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The main goal of treating diabetes is to prevent complications of the disease. Most health problems that are associated with diabetes arise without many symptoms. Not knowing this simple fact can be a major roadblock to living a healthy life. If you don't know that a threat to your life exists, then how can you attempt to prevent it? Say you have 45,000 miles on your car and you want to drive your car 20 miles down a steep canyon. Tucked away in the glove box is the manual that states that the braking system should be serviced at 40,000 miles to prevent its potential failure. And say that you did not happen to read every page of your car's manual and did not know this particular fact. You would likely drive down the canyon completely unaware of the potential danger that lies ahead. Likewise, if glucose control is not your goal, potential dangers lie ahead. In this chapter we discuss the complications of poorly controlled diabetes.

The visual system (eyes), renal system (kidneys), cardiovascular system (heart), peripheral vascular system (blood vessels in the extremities), nervous system (nerves), gastrointestinal system (stomach and intestines), and immune system (infection control) are the bodily systems affected by poor diabetes control. Given that many of these systems interrelate, I discuss diabetes as it relates to vision, the kidneys, the heart and blood vessels, and the nervous system. We should take care of our valuable votes when we vote for our leaders..................

Rest I will write later on as right now dont have enough time.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
